COLIN PARKER >
After
many years of illustrating I became Senior Illustrator at Rolls-Royce,
UK, and was responsible for creating many of the air brush colour
cutaways of the aero engines designed and built by the company.
Apart
from aviation I have always been a “car nut”, going to race meetings at
Brands Hatch and Silverstone at every opportunity where I managed to
pick up many commissions, not only cars, but landscapes too.
In
search of a better life, in 1987 I immigrated to Australia, where an
opportunity arose on the Black Hawk military helicopter contract at
Hawker de Havilland. I became Chief Illustrator and was responsible for
the production of artwork associated with promoting the company world
wide plus the production of all technical manuals. HDH was subsequently
taken over by Boeing Aeroplanes where I became responsible for design
integration graphics on projects as diverse as the new Airbus A380,
Boeing Dreamliner and the Joint Striker Fighter (JSF), Australia’s new
front line fighter aircraft.
I left Boeing in 2005 and am now
able to pursue my passion of aviation and automotive art more fully. My
favoured medium is acrylic, but I also paint in oils and water colours.
Over the years I have been fortunate in having had many commissions and
at present have several awaiting my attention.
